Quad Blood Bags - 450 ml

These Quad Blood Bags are designed for collecting and separating 450ml +/- 45ml of whole blood. Each foil pack contains 3 bags, including 4 satellite bags with a capacity of 100ml each. A 16g needle is used for collecting whole blood, and the 4 satellite bag system allows for dividing the blood into 4 small units, perfect for use on smaller patients. Additionally, this system can also be used to separate blood into packed cells and plasma. The shelf life of the red blood cell units is 28-35 days at 4°C, providing the benefit of two units each of packed cells and plasma that can be frozen for future use, reducing waste and ideal for transfusion into smaller dogs.

Processing whole blood into packed red blood cells and fresh frozen plasma within 8 - 12 hours of collection preserves its clotting factors. When using this method, the red blood cells can be stored for 4 - 6 weeks at 4°C, while the fresh frozen plasma can be stored for 1 - 2 years at -18°C, ensuring that both components remain usable for extended periods of time. Additionally, processing whole blood into these components prevents the loss of clotting factors and allows for their efficient and timely use.
